The Eviction Prevention Workshop aims to highlight the steps involved in preventing housing loss and supporting housing stability. Evictions are an ever-present threat for many households in Canada. They can have serious and long-term impacts, especially for people with low-income and other vulnerable households. Eviction prevention is a broad set of programs, policies, interventions, and strategies to keep people in their homes and prevent them from entering homelessness. Participants will learn about the importance of understanding evictions, the eviction process, and available resources and support.
You will learn:
How the eviction process works and opportunities for intervention
Laws and legislation for landlord-tenant agreements
Resources to educate and support at-risk households
Eviction prevention practices such as rent assistance
Costs of eviction
Various notices, forms for tenants and Landlords
