#Newstart
We can’t wait for life to return to normal. When that happens—and it will—we have some exciting news to share. We’re moving to a new location! It’s a #NEWstart for us at Newcomer Women’s Services, and it’s a #NEWstart for our child care centre too. The centre is free for children to attend if their mothers are enrolled in our English Language programs. Before we can open this sunny & happy new setting, we need a few things … including 2 portable kitchen sinks!
“We want to create a cozy and comforting space where children can feel safe as they begin to re-socialize post-pandemic. Our goal is to raise $8,000. At least 60% of that will cover the costs of the two portable sinks that we need. So, if you’re “in sync” with our drive for a sink and more, we’d appreciate your support.”
Judy Fantham, Executive Director
Newcomer Women’s Services, Toronto has helped hundreds of immigrant moms and their children adapt to a new life. Learning English is the passport to integration. But many women cannot afford childcare to focus on their studies. Our services are FREE to clients. And our child-minding support is first-class – delivered by accredited Early Childhood Educators and Assistants. Our program is culturally sensitive and designed to meet the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of the children.
Until now, we have been meeting those physical needs in a windowless basement. But this fall, we are getting a #NEWstart: moving to new premises with lots of natural light and space to place with hospital-grade air filters installed since COVID-19. And we are co-locating our school with other agencies for women in hopes of one day creating a hub of support
BE THE FIRST TO SUPPORT US! Back by popular demand! Earlier this year, NEW client Dorothy Guo and her six-year-old daughter Sophia Wu created change purses for our #project21x21 campaign. The amazing design duo has created a limited-edition purse for our #NEWstart campaign. The First 50 people to donate $100 will receive one of these charming change purses that change lives. These funds alone will cover the cost of the two portable sinks that we need.
