Sister2Sister: Community Leadership Program

 

What you need to know

 

The Sister2Sister: Community Leadership Program will build the capacity of newcomer and immigrant women with a curriculum tailored to their needs and aspirations through education (“information is power”), critical thinking, practice telling and sharing their stories, experiential learning, and mentoring. The aim is to leverage their voice and personal power as formal and informal leaders in their communities. This is a six-month free leadership development program where participants will learn a diverse skill set and will have the opportunity to build their social and human capital.

The program consists of 24 sessions, which will be delivered:

  1. From September 14, 2023 to March 14, 2024 (We will not have any session on November 23 for Thanksgiving, and we will have a break for the New Year, from December 14 to January 4).

  2. Every Thursday

  3. Sessions will be delivered online: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm via Zoom.

If you are interested in joining the program, apply using the button below by September 19th, 2023 at 5pm. Please note that this program is open to all newcomer, immigrant, refugee, and non-status women.

NEW’s Sister2Sister Community Leadership Program is a six-month FREE leadership training program that will help you find your voice and build your network. You’ll spend time with other remarkable multicultural/multi-ethnic immigrant and refugee women who want to make a difference in their lives and their communities. The program activities include leadership training, workshops, community development and violence prevention programming. Plus, you build a new network of strong women and you’ll grow together in a supportive and safe environment.

  • INCREASE your sense of belonging in your community.

  • ADVANCE your leadership and employability skills.

  • ACCESS different networks and support systems.

  • CONNECT with fellow influential and successful immigrant women.

  • RECEIVE coaching, mentorship, and an individualized career plan.

  • ORGANIZE and participate in advocacy project.

  • RECEIVE a Community Immigrant Women Leadership Certificate.
