Empowering newcomers: Building Bridges, Fostering Inclusion, and Strengthening Communities Together

 

Welcome to Canada and Welcome to Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto (NEW)

Our program brings newcomers and long-time Canadian residents together to encourage intercultural awareness, volunteerism, and social and civic engagement. Community Connections provides newcomers with a safe space as they integrate into the Canadian community.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR OUR SERVICES?

Whether you’re new to Canada or a longtime resident, you can access our services. They are open to permanent residents, convention refugees, and landed immigrants.

NEW offers several workshops and group activities under the community connections program SERVICES including:

  • Volunteering and civic engagement

  • Health, mental health & wellbeing

  • Newcomer-Canadian-Indigenous Peoples dialogue to build an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of being Canadian, including stewardship of the land, participation in defining and building an inclusive society, volunteerism, and civic engagement

  • Labor market orientation

  • Cross-cultural communications

  • Access to local community services (e.g banking, housing, settlement, library, etc)
