Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto in partnership with JUMP Math offers a unique tutoring program for children grades one to eight on Saturdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon.

The program offers:

- One-to-one support to help students build mathematical skill
- Volunteers, college students and student teachers are on-site to assist with tutoring needs and are eager to give children a jump start

This program encourages children to have fun learning math. The JUMP Math program has been extended to support mothers to confidently assist their children with math homework. This initiative was in response to a need expresses by our clients to be able to support their children to develop numeracy and literacy skills.

Frontier College has provided books and training for youth volunteers to facilitate a children’s Reading Circle. The reading circle encourages young children to develop a love for reading whilst playing together and having fun.  As part of the program, children are encouraged to read, write down their thoughts and ideas; use their imagination; utilize problem-solving skill; speak with confidence and to work in teams.

Children are able to have fun and learn at the same time whilst their mothers participate in the Newcomer Women's Network Saturday Program. Please note, mothers with children in JUMP Math must participate in the Newcomer Women's Network Program as children cannot be left onsite unaccompanied.
